June 6th marked the final competition day for many sports at the 13th ASEAN Schools Games. The Vietnamese team had the opportunity to win more medals in Badminton, Basketball, Pencak Silat, and Athletics.
In the morning, the Pencak Silat athletes competed in the final Tanding matches. This sport is traditionally dominated by Indonesia, but the host nation proved to be formidable contenders. After four hours of intense competition across all weight categories, the Vietnamese warriors secured 9 gold medals, 4 silver medals, and 3 bronze medals. This brought the total tally for Pencak Silat to 16 gold, 10 silver, and 5 bronze medals. Vietnam topped the overall standings, surpassing Indonesia by a total of 7 medals.
Following the success in Pencak Silat, Vietnamese swimmers also shined. Among the notable achievements was Nguyễn Quang Thuấn's performance in the 1500m freestyle. The younger brother of "Little Mermaid" Ánh Viên completed the event in 15:43.20, breaking a 13-year-old record previously held by a Singaporean athlete (15:55).
In Basketball, the journey for both the Vietnamese boys' and girls' teams concluded today. Despite their best efforts, the student athletes narrowly lost to Singapore, finishing in 4th place overall.
Tomorrow, the Games will officially come to a close. After the final medals are awarded to the basketball players from the Philippines, Indonesia and Thailand, the closing ceremony will be held at 3:00 PM.

6/6 là ngày thi đấu cuối cùng của nhiều bộ môn tại Đại hội Thể thao học sinh Đông Nam Á lần thứ 13. Đoàn Việt Nam đứng trước cơ hội giành thêm huy chương ở các bộ môn Cầu lông, Bóng rổ, Pencak Silat, Điền kinh.
Vào buổi sáng, các VĐV Pencak Silat bước vào loạt đấu chung kết nội dung Tanding. Đây được xem là thế mạnh của Indonesia nhưng chủ nhà Đại hội tỏ ra không hề kém cạnh. Sau 4 tiếng thi đấu toàn bộ các hạng cân, các chiến binh sao vàng giành được 9 HCV, 4 HCB và 3 HCĐ. Thành tích của riêng bộ môn Pencak Silat qua đó được nâng lên 16 HCV, 10 HCB và 5 HCĐ. Việt Nam đứng nhất toàn đoàn (hơn Indonesia tổng cộng 7 huy chương các loại).
Nối tiếp thành công của Pencak Silat là các VĐV bơi lội. Trong cơn mưa huy chương đoàn Việt Nam giành được nổi bật nhất phải kể đến thành tích của Nguyễn Quang Thuấn ở nội dung 1500m bơi tự do. Em trai “tiểu tiên cá” Ánh Viên hoàn thành phần thi sau 15p43s20, phá kỷ lục tồn tại 13 năm do một VĐV người Singapore nắm giữ (15p55).
Với bộ môn Bóng rổ, hành trình của 2 đội tuyển nam nữ Việt Nam đã đến hồi kết trong ngày hôm nay. Dù rất nỗ lực, các VĐV học sinh đã để thua đầy đáng tiếc trước Singapore, qua đó về đích với vị trí thứ 4 chung cuộc.
Ngày mai, Đại hội sẽ chính thức kết thúc. Sau khi những tấm huy chương cuối cùng được trao cho các VĐV bóng rổ Philippines, Thailand, Lễ bế mạc sẽ được tổ chức vào lúc 15h00.
